Advantages of the synergetic classroom
Connecting with students on a personal level is a strong feature of the synergetic theory. When considering classroom management or any management style, the use of discussion to stimulate ideas and flatten the organization can lead only to more understanding and equality. The classroom becomes a community rather than a dictatorship.
Disadvantages of the synergetic classroom
The implications of the synergetic theory are extremely idealistic. Relying on student feedback and giving students more responsibility for rule-making are great ideas in theory, but a new teacher may not possess the skill or confidence to follow through with these principles. This theory would have a greater likelihood of success if incorporated into a strong teacher-education program.
